Priorities

Priorities.

The states that constitute the USA should always be our US President’s first priority.

Obama is on his way to  New Orleans, Louisiana today. He will be there a few hours, then head out to San Francisco (scheduled arrival 5:30pm) to make a  DNC event.

Mississippi is not scheduled in this “Hurricane Katrina hit” trip.

The state right next door. Not more than a hop on a flight, before he heads west to CA.

Baffling.

Even the mayor of Waveland, Mississippi – a town that was hit the hardest is shocked that Obama isn’t coming to MS.

Perhaps it’s because in the light of all the hoopla coverage of the Katrina mess – MS has always taken a back seat to importance.

There shouldn’t be any reason for this. They were ravaged just as hard.

Now, it is not as if Obama has neglected MS altogether. When he took office he allocated an other $160M to this state for rebuilds, etc. Note: Lousiana got $1.4B more from Obama.

Obama should be visiting every state that has had any kind of damage from any natural disaster of this capacity in the US during his first year in office. This should be top on his list. A priority above and beyond anything else. These people need to see that this President will help them, and help them much quicker -unlike his predecessor.

I am sure by the end of this day, Obama will have lost significant voter and/or lost ‘on the line’ party members from MS in large numbers if they took a poll.  Not many are thinking favorably of him right now in MS. Obama should have kept this in mind while having his agenda set for him for the week.

He could have made this trip after CA’s trip – if the time was going to be cut too short to get to the DNC event in time.

I guess a DNC event is more important than supporting those that have been already ignored by their government when the disaster was happening, and now that it’s 4 years later, they still aren’t important to rank over a political move such as attending a DNC event in an already predominately democratic state.

Maybe if MS was predominately democratic, Obama would have made sure to have Air Force One head there as well.

Can we Twitter Obama and give him a heads up before he makes a huge mistake? There is still time. He is not set to depart the south for another 2 hours.

He can always show up at the DNC event late. I think people in CA would understand he was either being fashionably late – or well, gosh, he was the President doing presidential things. I think the people at the DNC would still let him in the doors.

Priorities.

Obama should have spent a 1/2  day in both Louisiana and Mississippi and made the CA trip separate from all this. Who ever sets his agenda is an idiot.

But Obama is as fault here just as much. He has a voice (when he is not having Biden talk for him). He can say ‘hey, why am I not scheduled for Mississippi’. He should have made it clear that MS was an important part of the “Katrina” trip as well.

Obama has managed to travel overseas several times in his first 100 days and just as much in his first 200 and to current.

How come it has taken him so long to go 2 hours south? 10 months into his presidency. His administration has been to Louisiana a few times since he took office, but this is Obama’s first trip.

And now he is going south, but not covering one of the states hit.

Shameful.

So when Obama wants to know why he is weak in MS in 2012, perhaps he can look back on his calendar/schedule for the answer.  And when he says ‘oh shoot, I messed up’ – you better believe he will all of a sudden make several trips to MS during that presidential race – won’t he.

I just wonder if he will offer an apology for the lack of the visit on 10/14/09 with it.

Priorities.  Attend a DNC event or while you are in Louisiana, make a trip over to Mississippi -an area ravaged just as much?

Hmmm…..Tough choice. No wonder he needs his Administration to help him make such ‘tough’ decisions.

Pathetic.

President’s are always so focused about their 2nd term, they seem to forget they have to do their job quite extraordinary in the 1st term.

Talk about a ‘government {still} sitting on their hands’…(Obama’s statement about Bush’s reaction to Hurricane Katrina)
